Punjab and Haryana farmers hold 'Kisan Adhikar March' on 1st and 2nd September






Punjab and Haryana farmers hold 'Kisan Adhikar March' on 1st and 2nd September at Chandigarh under the Leadership of National President Op Dhankar and  National Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal. A memorandum will be given to the Governors of both states Punjab and Haryana on that day. Talking with the media persons here today BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that this is for
Protesting against the alleged lackadaisical attitude of the central and state governments towards famers, the BJP would hold 'Kisan Adhikar March' in all non-BJP ruled states, including Odisha, in the first week of September. It would also hold a similar protest in Delhi in October first week and submit a memorandum with 15-point charter of demands to President Pranab Mukherjee, said BJP Kisan Morcha national Secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal here today.
He said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, Grewal said, "By raising the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy by a mere Rs 60, the Centre has played a cruel joke on the farmers."
Grewal said that the state government's procurement policy had collapsed and lakhs of tonne of paddy was rotting, much to the farmers' dismay.
Farmers are dying in India, as their crop was not lifted in time, they alleged, adding, shortage of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides are perennial challenges for the farmers. "They don't have any social security and are forced to commit suicide. Without giving the producers (farmers) their due, how can we bring a Food Security Bill to please the consumers?"
"The food chain of the nation in that case is bound to get disturbed," he noted, appealing farmers to come together and fight for their rights.
